Just in time for Easter dinner
Just in time for your Easter Dinner Preparations, I want to share with you my favourite pie crust recipe. Say goodbye to rock hard pie crusts, this flaky crust melts in your mouth.
MARCIA'S NEVER FAIL PIE CRUST
5 1/2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
2 tsp sea salt
2 1/3 cups lard
1 tbsp vinegar
1 egg lightly beaten
Mix together flour and salt.
Cut in Lard with two knives until mixture resembles course oatmeal.
In a one cup ,easure, place 1 egg, beat slightly, add 1 tbsp vinegar and finish filling the cup with cold water.
Gradually add liquid to the flour mixture to make dough cling together.
Gather into a ball and devide into 6 balls. You can also wrap unused portions and refrigerate or freeze.
Roll out each portion on a lightly floured surface.
Transfer dough to pie plate.
Note: If using tin pie plates temper by placing in a 450 F oven for 15 min.
This recipe makes three 9” double crust pies or 6 pie shells.
